Appeal for witnesses to fatal crash in Callan

Gardai are appealing for witness after a pedestrian died in Callan yesterday evening.

The local woman, age 50, was pronounced dead at the scene on Green Street in the town following the incident which happened at around 6pm.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, was not injured.

The road was closed for a time for a forensic examination of the crash scene.

Gardai are anxious to speak with anyone who was in the area of Green Street, Callan or who drove through the town at about 6pm.
