Kilkenny Garda station was forced to close for more than an hour yesterday evening when a man armed with a knife entered the premises.
The man in his early 40’s arrived at the station at around 6.30pm – Gardai quickly evacuated members of the public from the building and closed the station before putting a safety cordon in place.

They were assisted by a trained Garda negotiator and members of the regional support unit and the matter was brought to a safe conclusion when the man was arrested at around 8pm.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
