“Best birthday present ever” says Carlow Cystic Fibrosis sufferer after Orkambi announcement

A Carlow Cystic Fibrosis sufferer says yesterday’s announcement by Simon Harris was “the best birthday present ever”.

Kelsey Power-Nolan, who turns 21 this weekend, has been campaigning for the drug Orkambi to be made available in Ireland.

Health Minister Simon Harris announced last night that the HSE has reached a deal with pharmaceutical firm Vertex to provide the groundbreaking drugs to about 600 people in this country.

Speaking to KCLR News this morning, Kelsey says she was over the moon when she found out.
