“This estate is going down fast and we’re going down with it.”

The words of a resident of Bishop Birch Place in Kilkenny City that was built on the site of an old sand-pit decades ago.

Huge damage has been done to some of the houses there because the ground has become so soft that they’re sinking into it.

Those living there have had to spend their own money to fix issues including gaping cracks in their walls despite years of lobbying the council to do something about it.

It was raised again at this week’s council meeting but residents have told KCLR they’re losing faith.
