Book of Condolence for Orlando shooting victims opens in Kilkenny

A Book of Condolence has opened in Kilkenny for the victims of the nightclub shooting in the US.

50 people died at the shooting in Florida in the early hours of yesterday morning and another 53 were injured.

The FBI has confirmed the man suspected of carrying out America’s worst mass shooting was known to the authorities.

29-year-old Omar Mateen was interviewed in 2013 and 2014 over inflammatory remarks, but the investigation didn’t go any further.

A Book of Condolence was officially opened at the Town Hall in Kilkenny City at 12 noon today.
