The FBI has confirmed the man suspected of carrying out America’s worst mass shooting was known to the authorities.

29-year-old Omar Mateen was interviewed in 2013 and 2014 over inflammatory remarks, but the investigation didn’t go any further.

A Book of Condolence was officially opened at the Town Hall in Kilkenny City at 12 noon today.
