Borris Golf Club – LADIES CLUB
‘Healthy and vibrant’ were words used to describe the Ladies Club at their recent Annual General Meeting which was well attended, testament to a very successful year at local and District level, having won the Mid Leinster Junior Foursomes District Final and reached the Semi Final of the Boyne Trophy in Edenderry. Linda Donohoe, a long standing member, took up office as Lady Captain for 2015. A native of Limerick, living in Kilkenny, and well known for her prowess on various teams over the years, Linda pledged to commit fully to her role, and looks forward to leading the Ladies Club to the pinnacle on the Inter-Club front in the coming season, already dusting off a place for another pennant in the Borris Ladies Hall of Fame!
Annual results were announced at the AGM as follows:-
ILGU Silver Spoon winner: Bridie Galavan.
ILGU Silver Medal winner: Martha Kelly
ILGU Bronze Medal winner: Geraldine Treacy
Summer League winners: Mary Sheill, Brenda McCarthy & Janette O’Neill.
Salver Matchplay winner: Joan O’Connell Runner up: Martha Kelly
Nan Joyce Matchplay winner: Breda Nolan Runner up: Brenda McCarthy
Golfer of the year trophy was presented, to the delight of a totally surprised and very popular winner Brenda McCarthy, who had been thrown a red herring earlier when she enquired as to who had won this prestigious award!
With the weekly Tuesday 9H Competitions, weekly Thursday Christmas Fare competitions, Christmas Gala Day on Thursday Dec 11th and the Ladies Bolheim Matchplay (based on the Solheim Cup) currently under way one might be forgiven for wondering where the hussle and bussle of Christmas will be managed around all of this. Healthy & vibrant indeed !
