Campaigners celebrate as planning for Wind Turbines on Kilkenny/Tipp border is refused

A number of local campaign groups are celebrating what they’re calling a victory after planning permission was refused for a number of industrial wind turbines.
An Bord Pleanála have refused the application from DunoAir for eight 126-metre high turbines on the Kilkenny/Tipperary border – near the foothills of Sliabh na mBan.
It had originally been refused by Tipperary County Council but DunoAir – a Dutch renewable energy company – appealed that decision.
Milo Power, Chairperson of the Suir Valley Environmental Group told KCLR News it’s not the first time different companies have looked for planning there but he says hopefully it will be the last.
He said the development would also have impacted hugely on Kilkenny’s Knockroe Passage Tomb.
