Care needed on the roads across Kilkenny and Carlow with snow and ice to start the week

Extra care is needed on the roads this morning with a snow and ice warning from Met Eireann only being lifted now.

Heavy rain yesterday, followed by snow and freezing temperatures last night means icy conditions on many roads around Carlow and Kilkenny, especially in hilly areas.

The M-8 Motorway had to be closed yesterday after multiple crashes.

You’ll need an extra few minutes to defrost the car too before you set off.

Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather says we’re in for a pretty cool day today and with low temperatures forecast again for tonight there is a risk of another icy start to Tuesday.
