Carlow and Kilkenny see strong housing activity this year

Just over three-thousand housing commencement notices were received in July, according to the Department of Housing.

That brings the year-to-date total to almost 19-thousand, compared with just over seven-and-a-half-thousand in the first seven months of last year.

In Carlow, 65 notices were received in July and 550 so far this year, while Kilkenny recorded 16 in July and 615 year to date.

Housing Minister James Browne says the figures show strong momentum.
