Carlow Councillor, Fintan Phelan, says Irish Water should have informed people sooner about a major fuel spill affecting water supply in the town.
Homes and businesses in Carlow town are beginning another week of having to conserve their water.
It’s after the fuel spill resulted in the water supply from the River Burren to the town being completely shut down at Sion Cross Water Treatment Plant.
From midnight until 6am every morning until the problem is fixed there’ll be reduced water pressure.
Speaking to KCLR news, Councillor Phelan says that locals should have been informed about the fuel spill much earlier than they were
He says getting full service restored must now be a top priority.
