Carlow councillors to be briefed on next phase for relief road works in town
The Southern relief road is getting a step closer to completion

Carlow’s Southern Relief Road gets a step closer to completion today.
The Compulsory Purchase Orders are being issued so the council will have the land that’s needed to connect the Wexford Road Roundabout to the Kilkenny Road.
Funding was granted for it in the recently announced National Planning Framework, and Councillors in Carlow are expected to get a full brief at their monthly meeting this afternoon.
Councillor Fergal Browne says it would help relieve traffic in the town centre.
He says it’s good news but it’s a question now of putting the pressure on, and working with Laois County council, to complete that road right across to the Graiguecullen side.
