Carlow councillor hits out at those responsible for illegal dumping in local cemetery

A Carlow Councillor says a local cemetery is being desecrated by illegal dumping.

Jim Deane says Clonmelsh Cemetery, just outside Tinryland is being targeted time and again by people dumping items like washing machines and fridges.

It’s the cemetery where members of the Disney family are buried and Councillor Deane says it does get a lot of visitors.

Meanwhile he says the site of the Monastery of St Wilibord, just a short distance from the cemetery is also being targeted repeatedly.

Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Deane said people are deliberately driving out there because they know there’s less of a chance of being caught in the act.
