Government’s being called on by a local TD to help farmers who are taking positive steps to guard the environment.
Those in agriculture have been criticised in the past for not doing enough.
But yesterday, local councillors, Oireachtas members and others were invited onto the Sheehan Farm, close to Kilkenny city, to see first-hand efforts that are underway to ensure best practices.
Deputy John McGuinness, who was among the attendees has been telling KCLR News’ Edwina Grace that he believes a very positive, general step is being made within the sector and that should be supported;
The call comes as it appears Kilkenny City’s water supply has been removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s ‘at risk’ list.
