Carlow TD Pat Deering says water charges issue “could have been handled a lot better”

“I’ll have to admit that this issue could have been handled a lot better”.

The words of Carlow Fine Gael TD Pat Deering speaking after yesterday’s Dáil vote to effectively bring an end to the water charges regime.

It’s estimated that upwards of 90% of the country will now not have to pay for their water.

Those who excessively use water will however have to pay a charge.

Speaking to KCLR News, Deputy Deering says he still doesn’t see this as a defeat for his party and it’s time now to put this issue behind us.
