Carlow’s Tesco workers may find out later if industrial action is on the cards

Staff in Carlow’s two Tesco stores might find out later today (Wednesday, 18th May) whether or not they’ll be taking to the picket lines in the near future.

Talks will take place this morning involving both sides in the Tesco dispute, after a nationwide strike, planned for Monday, was called off.

The company is proposing changes to contracts and pay for long-serving workers.

Tesco’s local stores are located in Tullow and in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Carlow Town.

Last week the local spokesperson for Mandate Trade Union said local staff would be kept on alert for industrial action in case today’s talks break down.
