Plans are progressing for a community hub in the heart of Gowran.
A playground with surrounding walkway and courts is under construction with facilities that aim to be accessible to all while providing a platform for socialising, networking and enjoying the outdoors.
There are huge plans for the site, a former landfill, and to date major help’s come from Leader and the County Council.
But now a push is on, calling on councillors to get behind a plan to have a roadside path extended to the amenity with parking bays and a more accessible entrance walkway to help those with mobility issues or buggy pushers to meander the natural incline.
And ahead of the county council’s monthly meeting next Monday (25th March) the Gowran on the Move group’s set up a petition seeking that support.
While to add to monies already secured, those behind the project continue to fundraise with a GoFundMe appeal underway.
Overall aim is to provide a space where children of all abilities can play together – including on a trampoline (above) and merry-go-round (below) which are accessible to wheelchair users, as is the ground floor level of the feature piece.
Committee member and local Dad Mick Kenny walked our Edwina Grace around the site to showcase – hear that here;
