Crowds expected to gather at Garda stations later to show solidarity for whistleblowers

Crowds are expected to gather outside Garda stations around the country this evening.

Peaceful demonstrations have been organised as a show of solidarity for members of the force, like Sergeant Maurice McCabe, caught up in the whistleblower scandal.

The vigil at Carlow Garda Station is expected to start at 6 and finish around 7.30, while in Kilkenny it will start at the same time and finish at 8.

Mick Purcell who’s involved with the Kilkenny demonstration says people are very sceptical about the whole thing – especially how Sergeant McCabe ended up being reported to Tusla.
