Devastated Carlow family wait for body of ‘compassionate young man’ to return home

A devastated family are waiting now for their son and brother to be returned home to Carlow from the US.
Michael Ryan died unexpectedly last Thursday after taking ill in San Diego where he had travelled for the summer.
The medical student, in his early 20’s had just finished his 4th year at the Royal College of Surgeons
In a statement a spokesperson for the College told KCLR news they were deeply saddened to learn of his death saying their thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and classmates at this time.
It’s understood Michaels parents returned home from the US at the weekend and arrangements to bring him back to Carlow will be made once this body is released back to his family.
He’s been described as a very ‘compassionate young man’ and a ‘talented musician’.
Parish priest Fr Rory Nolan told KCLR the community there is in shock and devastated by his death.
Michaels sister Aine plays camogie for Carlow county side – their game at the weekend was postponed as a mark of respect.
