New legislation around DNA profiling of criminals is already being put to use by Gardaí in Kilkenny.
Sometime between the 12th and the 13th of January an unoccupied house in Lintown Mews in the City was broken into and vandalised.

Garda Joe Reville told KCLR that while nothing was taken, extensive damage was done and that they were also able to recover a DNA sample which can now be entered into the system.
It will can now be used if the suspect commits any future crimes.
