€1.6 million worth of drugs seized in Carlow with two men arrested

Cannabis with a street value of €1.6 million euro has been seized from a house in Carlow today.

It was as a result of a joint operation between the Kilkenny/Carlow Divisional Drugs Unit and Detective Branches and the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

They were accompanied by the Armed Support Unit.

A house on the Tullow Road was raided this morning under warrant where 77 kilos of the drug were found.

€21,000 in cash was also recovered.

Gardaí say two Polish-nationals in their 30s have been arrested and are currently being held in Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act, 1996.

They can be held for up to seven days.
