Ireland international Ellen Molloy has decided to return to Wexford, ending her time with Sheffield United after four months.
The Kilkenny-born midfielder joined the Championship side in September but has mutually agreed to terminate her contract due to personal reasons.
Molloy made seven appearances for the struggling Blades during her brief spell in England. Reflecting on her time at the club, the 20-year-old expressed her gratitude for the support she received.

Speaking through Sheffield United’s social media channels, she said:
“I want to thank all the players, staff, and fans for making me feel so welcomed and appreciated at this amazing club. Although my time here was short, I’m incredibly thankful for the experience and wish the club every success this season and beyond.”
Molloy, who has earned six senior caps for Ireland, returned to the international fold last October after a two-year absence. Her return to Wexford is likely to bolster the Women’s National League side, where she has been a standout performer in the past.
Meanwhile, Wexford received another boost with the announcement that veteran captain Kylie Murphy has re-signed for the 2025 season. The Carlow native has been a central figure in the club’s success over the years and will continue to bring leadership and experience to the squad.
