A Palestinian teenager who won a scholarship to study at the South East Technological University but can’t travel here says “Every moment for me is heartbreaking”.
Close to 60 students from Gaza were granted scholarships to third-level institutions in Ireland but the Irish Government has since denied their vias as they’re unable to provide documentation, most of which the young people say was destroyed and they’re unable to get new copies.
A test case is due to be heard at the Four Courts this morning while protests are planned for the SETU Carlow campus tomorrow (Tuesday) and its Waterford spot on Wednesday.
The regional educational facility has now pushed out the start date for three students to the 18th of October while their appeals are being heard.
