There’s great excitement in Ardattin at news of a second Oscar nomination for Saoirse Ronan yesterday.
The 21 year old actress has been shortlisted as for the Best leading Actress award for her performance in Brooklyn.
Saoirse went to Ardattin National school and former principal there Paddy McInerney taught her for 4 years.
He says she deserves her success and they hope she wins the gong this time.
Joking, he said they are taking some of the credit for her performance in Brooklyn after all of the school concerts she was part of in Ardattin.
Meanwhile Saoirse herself has released a statement about her latest Oscar nomination saying she is ‘honoured’ to represent the film describing it as the ‘most personal’ and ‘hardest’ film she has ever done.
