An expert group has recommended closing the Regional Vet Lab in Kilkenny.
The working group set up to review the services around the country has favoured the closure of three labs including Kilkenny, Sligo and Limerick.
County Chairman of Kilkenny IFA John Bambrick says it is only a recommendation and ultimately the decision lies in the hands of the Minister.
He says they will continue to lobby local TD’s on this to keep the lab open.
