Extra funding is secured to finally get CCTV in Carlow Town Park

There were fears the project would be scrapped as the money allocated wasn't enough

The final cost isn’t being revealed but it looks like Carlow Town Park is finally getting CCTV.

Calls for the security measure came after a spate of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Last year €40,000 was allocated but when the costs proved to be substantially more than that, the project appeared to be in jeopardy.

However, members of the Carlow Municipal District who met yesterday finally got some good news about the project.

They were told additional funding that will allow it to go ahead has been secured.

Councillor Fintan Phelan says he is really hoping that it can be installed by this Summer.
