Farmers from Carlow and KIlkenny are among those protesting outside the Fianna Fáil ‘think-in’ in County Tipperary this morning in frustration over the cut to the nitrates limit.
The Irish Farmers’ Association is also angry about the Agriculture Minister’s plan to delay payments to farmers in 2023.
Today’s demonstration is outside the Horse and Jockey Hotel and it will also protest at Fine Gael’s ‘think-in’ in Limerick on Friday and Saturday.
It follows a similar gathering outside Agriculture House last week.
IFA President Tim Cullinan says it isn’t good enough Minister Charlie McConalogue is delaying giving farm owners their payments; “It’s totally unacceptable that the minister has not convened the payments to farmers already and you know this time of year with children going back to school, farmers facing tax bills and other bills and they expect this money to come out on time and this is farmers own income that they deserve and it should be paid out immediately”.
