Fatal fire not being treated as suspicious

Gardaí say they are not treating a fatal house fire in Mullinavat at the weekend as suspicious.

A local woman in her 80’s died in the blaze which broke out at a house in Castlegannon at around 6.20pm on Saturday evening.

Her remains were taken to Waterford University Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Gardai in Mooncoin are investigating the cause of the blaze.
