UPDATE (9am, Friday, 14th Nov) the weather warnings have been brought forward to 9am this morning for those under the yellow notice and 12noon for the orange.
Earlier story;
Flooding fears are again to the fore as Carlow and Kilkenny face into their second weather warning this week.
Already, many areas locally with rivers flowing through are waterlogged from earlier rainfall, and both counties have been lashed further overnight.
From 11am this morning for 24 hours Met Éireann has a status yellow notice for heavy and persistent rain in Carlow, Kilkenny, Kildare, Louth, Meath as well as Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow with the latter three also hit by an orange warning from 2pm.
For our locality, we’ll likely experience more flooding with difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
Kilkenny Weather’s Niall Dollard says “It’s been a wet start to the month. By this morning Kilkenny already had exceeded our average 1961-90 monthly Nov total.”
The Road Safety Authority is advising those taking to the roads in the East and South of the country to take extra care and to reduce speed, particularly on motorways.
