The wait is over for those who typically use the Ferrymountgarret Bridge.
The historic structure spanning the River Barrow is a popular route for those moving between Kilkenny and Wexford but closed while upgrade and safety works got underway at the end of June.
Due to reopen tomorrow, Kilkenny County Council’s now told KCLR News that it opens at the earlier time of 6 o’clock this evening.
Their statement outlines how works will recommence next Tuesday (1st September) with a traffic management system due to be in place for about one month to facilitate the safe completion of concrete and parapet repairs on the bridge, as well as the installation of public lighting.
The local authority spokesperson adds that they “Would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding during the works, and for accommodating the temporary traffic management measures”.
