Footbridges for Tullow back on track

There was concern funding for the project would be lost

Plans for pedestrian walkways along the bridge in Tullow are back on track.

The issue was deemed a priority for Carlow County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday after it emerged that a missed deadline could see the area miss out on the Transport Infrastructure Ireland grant allocated for the works.

However, it seems the money can still be secured for the footbridges element of the project at least – a revised proposal is to proceed by April 17 to be completed by the June council meeting.

Council Cathaoirleach William Patton told KCLR News at yesterdays meeting of the local authority that the second part of the project which involved traffic realignment around Hawkins lane has now gone away.
