Fr Willie Purcell says the number of children in direct provision must be addressed

A local priest says we need to look at the number of children in direct provision and those who are homeless in Ireland.

Fr Willie Purcell was speaking after his recent appointment as field officer with his diocese of Ossory for the Bishops’ conference.

He’s responsible for the areas of migration and immigration and will hold the position for 6 months.

There are over 1,000 children living in direct provision in this country.

And, speaking to KCLR, Fr Purcell says that must be addressed.
