Freshford man dies in workplace accident at quarry

The community in Freshford is trying coming to terms this morning with the tragic death of a local man at work yesterday.

The 48 year old father of 3, named locally as Tony Bergin from the Clashacrow area, was pronounced dead following an industrial accident at the quarry in nearby Threecastles where he had just returned to work after the Christmas break.

Locals are said to be shocked by the tragedy.

2 separate investigations are underway and its understood a post mortem examination will be carried out today.
