Funding cuts for the Carlow Arts Festival for 2017

“A huge blow” for Carlow Arts Festival is how the festival director has described news that their funding for this year has been cut.

More than 20 festivals and events in Carlow are to get a slice of €81,000 in council funding that was approved this week.

However, while the Arts Festival is still getting over €17,000 – that’s still 30% less than last year.

Speaking to KCLR News, Jo Mangan says this seems to be a direct contradiction of the promotion the government is trying to do nationally for these kind of events.
