Kilkenny’s Georgie Leahy, “a giant” of hurling, laid to rest today

The funeral has taken place today of a Kilkenny man who’s been described as “a giant” of hurling.

Georgie Leahy worked with not just Kilkenny teams, but also Laois, Offaly, Waterford and Carlow amongst others.

He was also a trainer, a coach, a selector and manager of countless clubs.

He passed away on Tuesday and his funeral took place at 12 o’clock today.

Chairman of Kilkenny’s County Board, Ned Quinn told KCLR he was an especially important figure to his own club James Stephens.
