Young people making a positive impact across Carlow were celebrated last night at the Garda Youth Awards.
The annual initiative promotes volunteerism and strong community ties, with leadership and teamwork highlighted at the event held at the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, sposored by Netwatch.
Carlow’s youth make up 18% of the county’s population.

There wasnt a dry eye in the house at the Carlow Garda Youth Awards last evening when it came to the Special Recognition Award. A posthumous accolade was awarded to 15 yeard old Ryan Kearney for his work fostering over 100 dogs with Cara Rescue Dogs. Ryan lost his battle with illness 10 months ago and his mam Sinead received the prize in his memory.
