As we approach the festive season and with Black Friday approaching we’re being warned to look out for online scams.
Gardaí appeal for all to be extra wary as it’s easy to get caught out with emails or even text or Whatsapp messages.
Sgt John Duffy has been telling KCLR News; “When people have things that they have bought online they are susceptible to look and say ‘this is obviously whatever it is I bought online’ and they’ll click onto the link”.
He adds “We’d ask, I suppose, that your biggest protection is that you don’t click on links that you aren’t expecting to come into it, that you are sure that any link that is being sent to you, any message that’s sent to you, is coming from the actual company that you’ve bought the product from or the transportation company that delivered it”.
