Gardai and the RSA are urging people to take extra care on the roads after two men lost their lives yesterday.

It brings the total number of people killed on our roads so far this year to 97 – two in Carlow, and three in Kilkenny.

The August Bank Holiday is one of the busiest times of the year, with thousands commuting for the long weekend.

Road Safety Officer with Carlow County Council, John McDarby told KCLR News that while alcohol is definitely a problem, it’s not the only one.

He says speed still remains a factor too.
