Gardaí say burglaries in Carlow and Kilkenny are down

The number of burglaries in the Carlow/Kilkenny area are down almost 900 since they peaked four years ago.

Last year there were 440 burglaries locally and Gardaí say it looks like the figure will be lower again by the end of this year.

Sergeant Peter McConnon told KCLR that there has been a huge drop when compared to the number recorded in 2013.

He said that the number of burglaries are down 1% of this time last year but we’re looking at at a reduction of up to 65% since a high of 1300 recorded in 2013.
