A global cyber outage is affecting airlines, banks, newsrooms and even the London Stock Exchange.
Organisations in the UK, US, Australia and Singapore have been impacted by the outage which seems to be linked to Microsoft Windows and cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.
It’s not believed to be a cyber attack.
Sky News was not been able to broadcast for a time early this morning, while check in services at Singapore’s Changi Airport and Sydney and Melbourne airports have been disrupted.
Alan O’Reilly works with Carlow based Blacknight Internet Solutions and says; “A serious global I.T. issue this morning impacting many companies which is causing Windows machines to crash with a blue screen, it appears to be due to a bug in a software calling CrowdStrike which defends against ransom wear, unfortunately this is impacting a lot of different providers across Europe and the US and many other areas”.
He had more to say on The KCLR Daily;
Tom Britton of Marble City Travel in Kilkenny has called it ‘exceptional’ on his weekly slot on KCLR Breakfast – listen back to that here;
