Local communities can only benefit from the Town Centre First plan.
So says Carlow Kilkenny Fianna Fáil TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor.
Urlingford and Tullow already have plans in place with Graignamanagh and Bagenalstown this week announced as having been selected this year for phase two of the Government initiative which sees a regeneration officer designated to each area to work with a team representing the town.
Deputy Murnane O’Connor has been telling KCLR News that their inclusion means; “Redeveloping derelict sites, creating community parks and walkways, boosting MSE and tourism potential but it’s also about protecting historical landmarks so what it is is it’s a concentration on our rural towns where we need to promote them more, we need to make sure that we look at the development of it, working within the communities”.
