HSE say there are no plans to put forward the funding for a hospice in Kilkenny

The HSE has indicated there are no plans at the moment to put forward the funding for a hospice in Kilkenny.

A parliamentary question was submitted by John McGuinness on behalf of the Susie Long Hospice Fund, asking for an update on the status of the project.

The group, set up in memory of Susie who died of bowel cancer in 2007, are trying to get a 12-bed hospice building built in the grounds of St Luke’s Hospital.

However, the reply to the question outlines the work already done by the Hospice Fund and says that palliative care in the Carlow/Kilkenny area is done through hospital and community-based teams.
