Hurling monument to be unveiled in Kilkenny this week

A monument to Kilkenny’s hurling prowess will be officially unveiled this week.

The statue features 3 hurlers, in black and amber, with hurls and helmets, reaching for a sliotar.

Last month it was decided that it would be placed on the Canal Square at John’s Bridge in the city and will be revealed to the public at a ceremony this Thursday morning (26th May).

Mayor Joe Malone told KCLR that it arrived from Clare, where it was being sculpted, over the weekend.
