Today’s National Day of Commemoration sees us focus on the Irish men and women who died in past wars or on military service with the United Nations and other international organisations in the service of peace.
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin hosts the country’s key event from 10.30am which will be attended by some of our most senior politicians and dignitaries.
While regional ceremonies include at Kilkenny Castle from 11am to which everybody’s welcome with attendees asked to arrive half an hour beforehand.
Cathaoirleach of the county council, Cllr Joe Malone, who himself has a military background, will lay a wreath in memory of those we’ve lost during today’s proceedings where guests include military personnel, regional Public Representatives, Members of the Defence Forces, An Garda Síochána, and Religious Leaders.
