Irish Water says discolouration in the water in Castlecomer is down to the presence of manganese.
The mineral occurs naturally in the area which has a strong mining history.
Irish Water says there’s no health implications and the water there is subject to ongoing monitoring to ensure its safe.
Its after a listener contacted KCLR to describe the water coming from his taps yesterday.
Meanwhile local Councillor Maurice Shortall says that is an ongoing problem in the area but one they are trying to address.
However he says there was a separate issue yesterday too.
