“It’s Going to Come Down to a Dog Fight” — Pembroke on Danesfort’s Relegation Final

Danesfort will face Erin’s Own in a repeat of the 2023 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship Relegation Final, with both sides fighting to preserve their senior status.

Erin’s Own found themselves place in the deciderafter a 2-15 to 1-21 defeat to Clara, while Danesfort lost out to Bennettsbridge by 0-23 to 0-14 in the other relegation semi-final.

The upcoming final is a repeat of the 2023 decider, when Erin’s Own defeated Danesfort by 1-17 to 1-15.

Danesfort selector Paul Pembroke says supporters can expect a tense battle, with very little separating the sides.

“These once-off games are nervous games. It is going to come down to a dog fight, the last puck, as it always is in those relegation finals.”
