Kilkenny’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade was a resounding success, drawing over 40,000 attendees. Mayor Andrew McGuinness expressed his pride, saying, “I’m so proud of the people who put their shoulders to the wheel to make it happen.”
The parade featured 60 floats, along with dancers, street performers, and local groups, making it one of the best parades the city has ever seen. The new route introduced this year proved to be a hit, as the vibrant procession captivated the crowd.
Meanwhile, Carlow also saw a surge in parade attendance. The Carlow parade doubled its numbers from last year, with nearly 30,000 people turning out to see 20 floats entertain the crowd. Grace Kelly, a committee member, told KCLR News “We’ve received no complaints, with parents especially praising the well-organised program of events we had this year especially for the kids.”
This marked Carlow’s largest parade ever, showcasing the growing enthusiasm for St. Patrick’s celebrations across the region.
