Kilkenny Anglers’ Association fear this season could be the last for salmon fishing

Today marks the beginning of the fishing season on the Nore, Barrow and Shore rivers.

However there are fears that this could be the last ever season for salmon fishing.

That’s according to the Kilkenny Anglers’ Association, who say it’s due to low stock in our rivers.

The Slaney River has already been shut down to fishers this year for the same reason.

A member of the Association has told KCLR news today that fears are growing about the future of the industry.
