Kilkenny-Carlow GRA rep says they won’t let rank & file Gardaí take blame for breath-test scandal

Rank and file members of An Garda Síochána will not be used as scapegoats.
So says the Garda Representative Association who are laying the blame for the false recording of over 1.4 million breathtests at the feet of Garda Management.
The Kilkenny-Carlow Division was found to have falsely recorded more than 96,000 of these tests – a difference of 158% on the actual figure.
However, local GRA spokesperson, Garda Ger Comerford, has told KCLR News the GRA’s stance is that over-reporting happened because management nationally have been pushing for this data as a means of showing how hard they work.
He says his organisation will not let their members take the blame for a scandal that wasn’t their fault.
