Kilkenny Councillor critical of local Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil TD’s over their stance on abortion

The chairperson of Kilkenny County Council has hit out at four of our five local TD’s over the abortion issue.

Fine Gael’s David Fitzgerald says he has a difficulty with the fact that the four of them – two of whom are party colleagues – are “refusing to deal with the reality of life since the 8th amendment was brought in”.

He’s calling for the amendment to be repealed as he says cases like the ‘X Case’, the ‘C Case’ and the death of Savita Halapanavaar show that it’s not viable.

Sinn Féin TD Kathleen Funchion is the only local Dáil Deputy supporting the repeal campaign.

Councillor Fitzgerald says there’s a misconception about what this summer’s referendum will mean.
