Kilkenny councillors calling for a bill to have mandatory inquests for any mother who dies during childbirth

Kilkenny councillors are calling for a bill which would see mandatory inquests for any mother who dies during childbirth, to be enacted as soon as possible.
If passed, the amendment to the Coroner’s Bill 2015 would mean families of women who die in these circumstances would no longer have to specifically REQUEST an inquest.
Councillor Tomás Breathnach is one of those backing a motion coming before Kilkenny County Council on Monday to get this progressed urgently.
Speaking to KCLR News, he says it would take some of the stress off families.
